Updating Units on Firmware 1.0.1

Important

This page is only for DXSpotter Pro units running firmware 1.0.1. If your unit is on 1.0.2 or newer, you do not need this — your device updates itself over the air and no action is required.

A small number of early DXSpotter Pro units shipped with firmware 1.0.1, which contains a bug that prevents over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates from completing. Pressing the on-screen Check for Update button (or the web portal's update button) will not succeed on these units.

The fix is a one-time update over USB using the browser-based installer below. Once your unit is on the new firmware, normal OTA updates work from then on — you will not need to do this again.

Is my unit affected?

Check your firmware version on the device:

  • Tap the LINK indicator in the top status bar — the firmware version is shown in the details panel.

If it reads 1.0.1, follow the steps below. If it reads 1.0.2 or higher, no action is needed.

What you'll need

  • A USB-C cable that carries data (not a charge-only cable)

  • A computer running Chrome, Edge, or Opera (browsers that support Web Serial — Safari and Firefox will not work)

Update steps

  1. Plug the DXSpotter Pro into your computer with the USB-C data cable.

  2. Click Connect below and choose the serial port for your DXSpotter Pro.

  3. Click Install and follow the prompts. The browser downloads the latest firmware and flashes it (about 1.8 MB, roughly 30–60 seconds). Do not unplug the device while it is flashing.

  4. When it finishes, the device reboots on the new firmware. Done.

Note

Use the Chrome (or Edge / Opera) browser to perform the update. The device is an ESP32-S3 and is restored from its full-flash image.

After updating

  • Confirm the new version on the device (tap the LINK indicator).

  • From now on the unit updates over the air automatically — no USB needed for future releases.
